SAS Grey Acrylic Primer Spray 500ml is a premium-quality acrylic primer designed to provide excellent adhesion, coverage and flatting properties on correctly prepared substrates. Suitable for most metals, wood and plastics, its fast-drying formulation creates a strong, smooth base for subsequent finishing coats. Supplied as a pack of 6 x 500ml aerosols for professional bodyshop, workshop, fabrication and refinishing applications.

Suitable for Metal, Wood & Plastic

SAS Grey Primer is primarily designed as a base coat for bare substrates but can also be used on most correctly prepared metals, wood and plastics. The neutral grey primer finish provides an excellent base for a wide variety of subsequent paint colours and finishing systems.

How to Use

Prepare the area thoroughly before application. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grime, grease and oil. Remove corrosion, loose coatings and other contamination using a stiff brush or an appropriate grade of wet and dry abrasive paper where required.

Shake the aerosol thoroughly for at least 2 minutes before use and continue shaking periodically during application.

Apply sparingly and evenly from approximately 20–25cm away. Typically apply 2–3 coats, or as required to achieve complete and even coverage, allowing approximately 10–15 minutes between coats.

The primer may be sanded and subsequent topcoats can be applied from approximately 30 minutes after application, depending on the number of coats applied, film thickness, ambient temperature and drying conditions.

After use, invert the aerosol and depress the actuator for a few seconds to help clear the nozzle and prevent blockage.

Technical Details

*Drying and overcoating times depend on film thickness, number of coats, ambient temperature and application conditions. Colder conditions and heavier coats will increase through-drying time.

Important Information

Do not apply to surfaces that are unsound or where compatibility with an existing coating is uncertain without first testing on a small inconspicuous area. Particular care should be taken where an existing coating is believed to be alkyd based.

The highly thixotropic formulation allows relatively high coating depths to be achieved. When applying heavier coats, allow additional through-drying time to help prevent solvent entrapment.
