The genuine TIME-SERT® 1415N M14 x 1.5 Thread Repair Kit is a professional solid-bushing repair system supplied with specialist tooling and 5 x 28mm stainless steel TIME-SERT® inserts. Designed to restore damaged or stripped M14 x 1.5 threads, the kit includes the drill, counterbore, insert tap, tap guide and installation driver required to complete the repair. TIME-SERT® also identifies this tooling as having been used for Kia crankshaft thread repairs.

28mm Stainless Steel TIME-SERT® Inserts

This specialist kit is supplied with 5 x genuine TIME-SERT® M14 x 1.5 x 28mm stainless steel inserts – P/N 141556. The extended 28mm insert length makes the kit suitable for applications requiring a longer solid-bushing insert than the standard M14 x 1.5 TIME-SERT® kit configurations.

Each insert features TIME-SERT®’s solid-bushing construction with an integrated flange for positive placement. The 1415N tooling is designed to install the insert flush with the component surface.

Important – Flush-Fit Installation

The TIME-SERT® 1415N installs the insert flush with the surface. The counterbore supplied with the kit creates the seating area required for the insert flange at the upper surface of the repair.

This is important when assessing suitability. Unlike specialist deep-recessed TIME-SERT® systems, the 1415N should not be selected on the assumption that the flange can be installed at an arbitrary depth down inside an access bore.

The 9-piece designation refers to the five specialist installation tools plus four? Check manufacturer kit-piece convention before publishing if you use “9-Piece Set” as a formal kit count; the supplied five tools plus five inserts total ten physical components before accessories.

How the TIME-SERT® Repair Works

1. DRILL – Use the supplied drill to remove the damaged original thread and prepare the hole to the correct diameter for the TIME-SERT® system.
2. COUNTERBORE – Machine the seating area required for the flange of the TIME-SERT® insert.
3. TAP – Use the dedicated TIME-SERT® insert tap with the supplied tap guide to create the receiving thread for the outside of the solid insert.
4. INSTALL – Apply TIME-SERT® Driver Oil as instructed and install the M14 x 1.5 x 28mm stainless steel insert until the flange seats correctly and flush with the surface.
5. LOCK – Continue driving the installation tool through the lower portion of the insert. The lower internal threads are cold-rolled, expanding the corresponding external threads into the parent material and mechanically locking the insert in position.

TIME-SERT® Solid Bushing Technology

TIME-SERT® differs from conventional wire-coil thread repair systems by using a solid threaded bushing. The rigid insert restores the M14 x 1.5 internal thread while providing a solid external interface with the repaired component.

• Solid Bushing Construction – Rigid one-piece insert rather than a wire coil.
• Integrated Flange – Provides positive placement and prevents the insert from winding further into the repaired hole.
• Mechanical Locking – The lower section is expanded into the parent material during final installation.
• Stainless Steel Construction – This kit uses the specialist 28mm stainless steel P/N 141556 insert.

Technical Details

Drill & Access Requirements

The supplied extended drill requires a 1/2″ drill motor. Before purchasing, check that there is sufficient access around the damaged thread for the drill motor, extended tooling and counterbore to operate correctly.

Thread size alone should not be used to determine kit suitability. Always consider the available hole depth, surrounding clearance and component geometry before machining.

Kia Crankshaft Applications

TIME-SERT® states that the tooling supplied with the 1415N has been used for Kia crankshaft applications. This does not mean that the kit is suitable for every Kia engine or every M14 x 1.5 crankshaft application.

If purchasing for a specific vehicle or engine, we recommend confirming the original thread size, available thread depth and tooling access before carrying out the repair.

Important Information

This kit is designed for M14 x 1.5 thread repairs using 28mm stainless steel TIME-SERT® inserts. Confirm the original thread specification and available installation depth before machining.

If the hole has previously been repaired, enlarged or fitted with another type of thread insert, do not assume that the standard TIME-SERT® tooling will be suitable. Measure the existing hole and contact Ace Consumables if you are unsure before proceeding.
