What are they used for?

Self-adhesive wheel weights simply stick onto the wheel rim, making them much easier to apply over the knock-on type. Although more expensive, they are easy to apply and remove and won’t damage wheels. You must prep the surface thoroughly prior to applying to ensure a solid adhesion. Use a wheel cleaner that will remove brake dust and contaminants, repeating as necessary until the surface is dirt and oil-free.
